Okay so I have a GORGEOUS black and white Easter egger cockerel about six months old. He is honestly stunning okay? So I’ve been noticing that his feathers have gotten a little yellow lately and I was wondering if I can clean them in any way?? I’m NOT trying to sound stuck up like one of those mothers who are like “My kid is the best!”(ugg go away Karen🙄) but he is my pride and joy 🙃 I’m assuming everyone has that one chicken they are just in awe of?? Anyyyways just wondering if y’all have tips!! Tysm!!

Some pictures would help. Where on his body are the yellowing feathers? Are they getting dirty, or is that just their natural color? Keep in mind that not all white feathers on chickens are perfectly snow white. Some are a little off-white and that's normal. If he isn't actually getting dirty (like pooping his pants or living in mud), I would not recommend trying to clean him. Chickens keep their feathers healthy by covering them with oil from the oil gland just above their tail, in the process of preening. Unnecessary washing or cleaning by the human can compromise this oil film on the feathers and jeopardize their health.
