How do I continue to keep this chicken social when they’re put outside with all the rest of the flock?

I’ve been this guy out on a semi-regular basis to have one social and friendly chicken. We hatch 20-25 chicks, and I don’t have time to socialize them all, so I picked a favourite. Meaning he’ll probably be the first to die, because Murphy’s Law loves me. lol

How do I make sure he stays social even when he’s out in the larger flock?

They’re Serama crosses, and we just put out our first hatch that they grew up with, but I want to keep our two tiny Seramas in for our next clutch which is due to hatch tmrw. A) So I can socialize them more, and B.) They’re still very small compared to the rest. I know they’re not a large breed, but this second clutch has another small breed, D’Uccles, so I think it would be nicer to turn these ones out together when they’re bigger

Video link and photo for cuteness 🥰

Such a cutie!
I’ve had some that I handled plenty and I’ve had some that I let a broody raise.. and I’ve had some that I didn’t mess with hardly at all... some are friendly and some are not.. no matter how they are raised... the ones I let the broody raise are very friendly with me.. and one from the batch that I never fooled with is my sweetest hen.. she runs to me every time I go out there and she waits for hugs! But for the most part they all will come around.. especially when you have food :D ... I believe if you interact with them and spend time with them (meaning.. sitting with and talking to) then they will be comfortable with you and most will be friendly... I really don’t think that we have to go to great lengths holding them and cuddling them to ensure that they will be friendly... cuz from my experience some will be friendly and some won’t no matter what you do... I think it also has to do with each individual.... good luck!

Thank you! I appreciate your words, and they seem to hold true! They’re out with the bigger chicks, but they’re the first ones at the door and will hop out on my leg or run out and just hang around. I do still bring them inside to hang out, because they’re just so cute to watch 🥰

You’re welcome! And I should add.. there is nothing wrong with holding them if you want to cuz you are right... they are just too cute to resist!
