How do I fix a swollen full crop?

As long as the game bird feed is the starter feed, meaning the crumbles for babies, it will be o.k. It just has a higher protein level. I feed it to my birds. I think he just has a full crop and if there are no other issues he should be o.k. He shouldn't need grit unless you are feeding him something other than crumbles. I've never given my chicks grit.

Should she withhold feed for the day and let the stuff digest?
I'd hate to think she has an over-eater so young. I had one and the crop got so large she couldn't move any food through and she died. The crop became nonfunctional.......meaning it couldn't contract. I didn't know if that would happen to chicks.

Well I got home and her/his little crop was even bigger then when I left this morning so I took away the food , the other baby has about a 1/3 of the way full crop so I dont think he will waste away if I keep the food out till morning that will be about 12 hours , anyone think this will be ok . I massage his/her crop in the morning in the evening and when I go to bed. they dont get any other food.

Ok He/She was without food and let me tell you his sibling was ticked about the depervation, for about 12-14 hours and when I checked his crop was about 1/2 the size of yesterday but felt harder

Give them a little plain live culture yogurt. Will help build normal gut flora so help them digest their food. Good for all brooded chicks.

here is a thread that might help-

i have been having the same problem with one of mine, the suggestion was to have her on vinegar water for a day, then yogurt+applesauce+baby oatmeal in small amounts for two weeks, basically you need to have her crop empty then gradually ease the food- here is some more info- if you do a search for sour crop there is alot of info
