How do I get rid of the mites on my chicks?

Apparently my broody acquired mites sometime after she started sitting, and I was unaware of them, so now her chicks have hatched and they have them. Will the mites kill/stunt the chicks? Can I dust the chicks with mite dust/diatomaceous earth? Should I do nothing about it?

Sevin dust will do the job, Insane. I usually dust the nest and the hen at the outset as ants have been my bigest problem in the past.Sometimes lice/mites, but Sevin has proven to be safe for chicks.......Pop

Yes. Or you can get it at garden supply stores. Use the 5% Sevin Dust..........Pop
