I’ve got a poorly chicken in need of antibiotics. I have them, but they are in tablet form! I’ve never stuffed tablets down a bird’s throat so not sure what to do.
Do I crush into a powder and tube feed or is there a way to give her the whole tablet?
Thanks!

Is she eating anything at all?
I've had success crushing the tablet and mixing it into a small amount of rice pudding or yogurt. My hen ate that readily.

I crush the tablet, or the appropriate amount for dose, and mix in a bit of soft coconut oil. Refrigerate until firm on a piece of paper towel or parchment paper, and then give like a pill. They generally like coconut oil and it goes down very easy, especially if they are not eating. Some people mix it in a bit of liverwurst and feed it that way. You can crush and mix with water and use an oral syringe, but some don't mix well with water and can be hard to get out of the syringe completely.

Love the coconut oil idea! Thanks!
