How do I know eggs are fertile?

I am about to buy few fertile eggs from a neighbor farm, but I heard sometimes they sell old eggs that don't hatch, they advertise this are fertile eggs, but how can I be sure they will hatch? Or maybe just take a chance at it...

If someone is in the business of selling hatching eggs, it would be counter productive to sell eggs that don't hatch. I say go ahead, buy some eggs and give hatching a try.
