I'm SO excited!!
I called the first feed store and they didn't know any one who sold eggs. The second (and closer) feed store gave me the name of a guy 7 miles away who has a bunch of chickens running around (brown egg layers) and was happy to sell me some. When I got there he just gave me the 3 dozen and said if I liked them then I could come back and buy more. The eggs were not uniform or especially clean (looked like they came right out of the nest) but they came from happy well nourished chickens and the one that was cracked between there and home had a lovely yellow yolk. I am thankful to find some one so close. He thought he would charge 2 dollars a dozen. That is more than the grocery store, but I am willing to pay it considering the source.
