My roommates stupid dog just killed my favorite new little pullet. She was a blue maran and I was so excited. My roommate just is not training her dogs and I asked her to feed the chickens and she must have let him get in. I bet this is not going over well with my already anxious rooster. I swear she's lucky I wasn't there I would have killed that dog.

It's going to be nearly impossible for her to train the dog not to attack the chickens if it's already attacked and killed one. So I wouldn't blame your roommate for that. Just keep the dogs away from them, let her know how you feel about it - and ask her to make sure she doesn't accidentally let the dog get to them again.

I'm going to b getting a shock collar for my dog, though he hasn't tried eating any chickens. So I will probably lend it to her..... or just take the training into my own hands ...mooohaahaa. but yea. She feels bad. But she also thought maybe we should eat the chicken....hmm.

What kind of dog is it? Some breeds cant really be trained to not kill animals like that, but others can. I have a black lab who is a bird hunter. If she sees a pheasant, quail or similar sized bird, she will chase and possibly kill it, but if I let her into the yard with the chickens and turkeys, she wouldn't touch them (unless she is pushing them out of the way to get their food).

I would, dogs owner is responsible for dogs actions. She should have kept the dog away from the chickens.

I just got a shock coller for my dog. He was always after the new babies in the house. It has a vibrate option on the collar. Now when I get the babies out he goes to his bed room. lol. And I've never had to use the shock just vibrate.

The dog is a mutt. And now hes staying on a leash. I think. Anyway somehow losing one chicken meant I needed 8 more chicks..... so now its my cat i have to watch lol. Had her head in the box within 5 minutes and is now stalking the door to the room they are in..... oh, the life of a chicken..... never rest!

Anyhow I got two replacement ee's 4 buff orps and 2 cornish rock. All strait run so well see....

Thanks guys!
