How do I trim a chickens nails

Do I trim the clear part which is the very tips/fronts? I know not to trim into the more inner part which is not transparent and can look a bit blue. I will also be using human nail clippers as I know it wont hurt them. Can someone tell me how far back to trim their nails?

Can you show pictures of your birds nails? How long are they? Do they have areas where they can scratch and wear their nails down naturally? It would be best if you provide that for them.
I would only trim about 1/4" off the tips.

Look for the quick in the nail and don't trim it. Longer nails have longer quick

I have a hen with curled toes on one foot that don’t get worn down and I trim them down to a slightly longer length as the nails on the other foot. Her nails are grey though so no visible quick and I use my dog nail clipper since their nails are similarly shaped. Works very well.
