How do I use felt in the bottom of my Brinsea Octogon? Locking down tomorrow!

I bought felt and shelf liner with the holes in it as I've seen suggested. Now how do I position the felt in the water channels to ensure a good humidity? I'm thinking I cut it into strips that go out of the channel and under the egg basket? Does the shelf line go under the eggs? Thanks, this is my first time with my new bater, 2nd time ever. Last hatch was in a homemade 4H bater and the hatch went horrible so I'm hoping this goes much better! So far 8 out of 12 eggs looking good for hatching!

I think you've got it right. I used some washcloths the way you are proposing to use felt on my last hatch, and it went well. And yes, the shelf liner goes under the eggs so that when the chicks hatch, they will be able to get a good footing under them.

Thanks! I've got the humidity up to 60 with that, hoping it will rise a little more to 65%. Should I wet the felt that's under the basket more to raise humidity if it doesn't get there on its own? Is there any reason the eggs can't get wet?

the eggs do not need anything under them if they are in the "egg basket" that came with the bator. the "basket" itself gives them super grip for their toes.

One more thing, I used the periodic cooling my incubator has and have cooled the eggs 2 hours daily. From everyone else's posts about power outages it seems like this will result in a later hatch. Anyone have experience?
