I have 3 Barred Rocks(2 hens, 1 Roo) who are 1 1/2 yr. old, they free range all day and go right into the coop around dusk and line up on the roost.
In March we got 2 Americana hens. We kept them in their own mini-coop up until a month or so ago. Their coop was on the front porch under my bedroom window (so I could hear if there was an attack!) When we decided it was time to move everyone in together we simply moved the mini-coop into the big coop so that new kids would have something familiar.
Anyway, now all free range all day, the grown-ups put themselves up for the night and the teenagers roost on the steamer trunk under my bedroom window. We have to go out and pick them up and put them in the coop.
How do I break them from roosting on the front porch and get them to go along to the coop?
Also, when should I expect eggs from them? They are 4 months old.
Thanks!

You'll need to lock th em in their new coop for a few days until they get used to the new location. That will help.

As for eggs, you can start gettings eggs around 19-20 weeks of age.
