How do you breed for coloring

i have some very prettty hens and roos that are mixes how do i breed them to get a color to add or make a new color for a breed
 
well i have so many i would like to umm ok i have some cochin silkie mixes i have a absolute pretty one that is white with black stops on it white all black tail and some more things i just love i wanted to either breed it back to silkie or cochin and make a different color
 
Humm...Color breeding does have its own laws.Plus sub-laws which vary according to the color being bred. Wid Card was a highly respected veteran breeder and judge. He wrote a book on the subject back in 1912 which is timeless because it is about laws, not opinions:
