during incubation or during hatching?

Either way will work. you just take a flat pencil or some kind of wood piece and tilt it on sides three times a day. works for me when my turner went out.

i have a auto turner. i was thinking that it was something that u did at maybe day 18. idk for sure.

Sure you can use them on day 18 and let them hatch out. No problems with mine and alot less messy.

I dont leave them in the turner because so many slots in there can have a chick's leg trapped so that is why I moved all the eggs out of the turner and put them in cartons.

What type of carton? Does it matter? Should it be cardboard or what??

Most people use the cardboard type, that is what I am using.

Just finishing my first hatch today in an egg carton - I used a cardboard carton and placed the eggs large end/air sac up on day 18 - it was a lot less messy and the eggs do not roll around bumping the others.

It was incredibly easy to use - will hatch like this again on my next batch of eggs I set Tuesday.
