I am raising another batch of meaties but I've got cornish this time. I've used red broilers and freedom rangers in the past. I'm interested to see how the cornish x are different. Anyway, I was wondering how everyone feeds their meat birds. What type of feed do you use? Do you use different feeds at different times in development? Do you free feed 24hrs/day or remove the feed for some of the day? Thanks for any replies/advice!

I fed my last batch a pre-measured daily ration which grew as the birds grew. I based the amount of feed on rations you can find on commercial feed bags or on web-sites like Welp hatcheries. I would feed 2/3's of it first thing in the morning and then the remaining one-third after I got home from work around 5. They say 12 hours on, 12 hours off. The feed I gave them never lasted twelve hours. I gave 21% with a couple of slight deviances throughout the eight weeks I had them.

I feed turkey and gamebird starter free choice. The whole 12 hr on 12 off is basically what I do but out here when the sun goes down its dark and there out cold for the night so I don't remove the feed. I've only had 3 broilers have problems but they were butchering weight so they wern't a loss.
