My turkeys like to drag their tails around, they get all muddy and the ends get broken off. When Tom shows off, his tail looks pathetic. What can I do to keep their tails nice and get them to look like thanksgiving turkeys?

I noticed when my two midget white toms circle around eachother and display, they take nips out of each other's tail feathers, and the girls sneak in to peck their butts, seems like just to irritate them. If I was going to try to show a tom, I think I would keep him alone in a pen with about six inches of shavings.... and smooth wall material, not wire.
