Depends on the dog. My old man ignores them - he is too old. My alpha female - she loves to play and chase. She licks the baby chicks butts cuz she thinks their poo is caviar. Unfortunately she will catch them in her mouth - wild ones that she is helping me catch - but she knows not to chomp down and then she gets this really wild look on her face with the little body loosely in her mouth and she has caught it for me but she wants to chomp and knows she shouldn't. Anyway, the baby chicks love and trust her and she lays for hours watching them. Mostly they are in a pen so she doesn't get to interact with them as much as she would like although they do tease each other. They will fly in her face from inside the pen and sometimes she does the same from outside. But she is an older playful dog. A few years ago I caught her pulling feathers out of my austrolorp and I could not believe that the bird just lay down and submitted! We ended that real quick. This dog should have been on a farm cuz she has the energy and the mind for it - too bad I don't have the smarts to train her - but again, she is older also.
