I have a Red Cochin Bantam that currently has six eggs in her nest. How long should she sit on her eggs? If she leaves the nest, will the eggs still hatch? She sits on them for most of the morning and at night, but she leaves sometimes. I've tried to take the eggs and she pecks at me. Do you think the eggs will hatch?

1) there has to be a rooster so the eggs are fertile

2) she is broody. They do take breaks and leave the nest to eat, drink, potty. This is normal.
Her pecking at you is also normal. She is protecting her eggs.

3) 21days +/- until they hatch

Search for broody threads. They are fun to watch, but stressful as well
