Not sure how he managed to do it, but my little black Araucana cracked its beak today.

I'm sure that's gotta be painful, but he's not that old. Just a little over 4-weeks. What, if anything, can I do for pain at that age?

I would put super glue on the out side of beak let dry good
and give him a asprin
before the asprin make him
wet mash probiotic
2 tbsp of dry crumbles
4 tbsp of milk any kind
1 tbsp of yoguart
this so he gets something in stomach
also drush the asprin in tbsp and add 1 tsp of water
then take a eye dropper and suck up the asprin water
and put in his throat way back and feed him
do this today and tommorrow and feed the wet mash twice a day
and add 1-1000mg VitE also today and rest of week each day

email me for more help P< ,e

one of my austrolorp roos done the same thing but it was up the middle and not as bad so i just trimmed it and its doing great but I have no clue what I would have done if it looked anything like that

owchies! sorry... I think the superglue would work - works good for cuts all the time. Hope he's alright!

The beak will grow out and heal like a fingernail...slowly. Do the aspirin, probiotic mash, clean it well with a sterile saline solution and put the super glue on it. That will hold it in place and seal it from dirt getting inside.

poor little guy!

For the aspirin, I would use a baby aspirin or a 81mg one. Not a full regular aspirin which is 325mg.

I would clean it with normal saline, or perhaps warm water before I applied anything else.

Superglue just may work, but don't get it on it's nose, and try to keep it from inhaling the fumes. Maybe hold a dry cotton ball over the nose when you do it?? I'm not sure. I know the fumes hurt MY lungs, so imagine what it would feel like to him!!

I would give him a mash for feed for awhile. Just soak the regular starter feed with a bit of water or milk to make a crumble so it would be easier for him to eat it.

Maybe separate him if you notice ANY of the other chicks paying attention to his beak or trying to peak it.

Good luck with the little fella!! It will grow out like a finger nail I would assume.

Well I managed to dab a little super glue on him and he seems fine. None of the other guys have been picking on him at all, so I guess it's wait and see. Glad to hear it will grow out!!
