How do you guys usually name your chickies?
I play around with names in terms of characteristics, personalities, and all sorts of things.

But I always liked naming them in groupings; like after alcoholic drinks (Whiskey, Brandy, Scotch, etc.) and other things. Now my mom and I are looking through our family tree and picking out names that are unusual - so far we have Westana, Nellie, Vera and Thelma (Minnie and Inez are on the list too)

I feel like it would be cute to give a huge flock names that link together somehow, but I'm just sticking with four. If anyone has fun reasons for their bird's names, do tell! Or if they're just named for no reason other than because it's their name

Well my children seem to enjoy naming ours after food they resemble. (Banana Pudding, Macaroni, Chesnut, Hershey's Kiss, Jelly Bean) or their color (Baby Blue - blue cochin-, Chrystal - porcelain de'uccle, Bumble (was black and yellow as chick), Dot, etc...) Our bunch that we just got was more creative and named after some of our favorite characters/people (Chewbacca, Cleopatra, Ming Ming, Woodstock, Wonder chick,)

I like the family name idea... might have to do that with our next ones. I have some interesting names in my family!

Oh we do have an exception to all of the above.... poor little Pecker. Yes her name is Pecker. She was one of our very first chickens and my daughter insisted that be her name because she was always pecking. It's real nice when she's running around the backyard calling for her. Sometimes I wonder what my neighbors must think of this! LOL!

The berry thing is cute

I could go for a flower-theme, too
And food and characters would be pretty endless. I feel like kids are the most clever with names. I have a cousin who named her now completely black hen "Dotty" because of one tiny black spot on her beak that no one else noticed

i hope these show up because i don't know what i'm doing, but Princess is her name because she is spoiled, demanding and gets what she wants because she is so pretty. to me. she is a white rock. today i dug up some nightcrawlers for her. and Oogli was supposed to be a buff orpington, but got green legs and a fluffy face i thought was hideous. i believe she is ameracauna? Princess laid a huge egg yesterday, so she took a break today.

Our "Dot" at the moment looks like a dalmation puppy, yellow w/ black polka dots. Can't wait to see what she'll look like grown up. Chewbacca is a SUPER fuzzy brown chic. She has feathered feet and I can't wait to see if she will stay fuzzy.

Mine all seem to get named by my kids. I think we keep it this way because they actually REMEMBER them.

My younger daughter's first chicks were all flowers (think Lily and Daisy) my other daughter named all of hers after different types of candy (Skittles, Twizzler...)

This time, they have named them more various names, but still in groupings of two or three. There are two bantam roosters named Columbus and Napoleon (who of course has a little man complex!). There are a couple bantam cochin pullets named Cheeseburger and Taco. My older son named his Opal, Copper and Pearl. But the ones that make me laugh every time are my 8 yr old son's Sultans: Rockstar and Mohawk.
