OK. the one with the longer neck has the biggest "lobe" hanging from its bottom. has a higher voice. short one deep voice hisses, smaller lobe

I would like to know this as well. I would love to know what my 2 geese are. It will make a difference come the spring if I know what to expect (fighting or loving). Haha. 2 females I think would be okay, one female one male would be ideal and 2 males would be the worst case scenario in case they want to mate with the ducks.

The lobe is fat storage and I don't notice any difference in the lobe size between male and female. I see a difference in the size of the lobe between different breeds, which doesn't help you much.

I had a goose refuse to eat while at a show and could see her lobe get much smaller. She got home and pigged out and now her lobe is huge and ready for winter, in case she decides to hibernate.

no that is NOT their water!!! i just had them in their to take their picture. its my dogs usual pen and its been hot out(he likes to roll in mud and lay or try to lay in his water!!!!!)(drives me nuts!) but anyways the water was just cleaned after this pic. My dog, Huck, got a real bath two nights ago and got to sleep in my bed:) so he wasn't even out there. and i just got the geese that morning!
so the male and female usually have the same size of lobe? i always thought the females would be bigger because of an "egg pouch" i am pretty puzzled!!!
way of topic. but heres my buddy Huck!!
