How do you sex guineas?

I just got my first guinea yesterday and I'm wanting to buy it a friend or two,I'm pretty sure I have a hen cause it keeps ''buckwheating''

The only better sign than the buckwheat call to determine if a guinea is a hen is when she lays an egg. When picking out adults separate the guinea from the others and in a short time it should start making the buckwheat sound if it is a hen.

I got confirmation today when I heard the buckwheat call coming from inside my guinea coop. When I checked, the only guineas that were in the coop was a confirmed Powder Blue male and two youngsters that I have inside a pen in the coop. These two were the only ones out of 9 juveniles that I thought might be hens based on vent sexing. I have had really good luck vent sexing males at 6 weeks old by looking for the start of the male penis. Unfortunately until now I haven't had any young hens to practice on.

Good luck.
