How does a goose know when to lay her eggs?

I've been searching all over the net for this answer and I'm hoping someone here can answer it:

How long is it from the time a goose mates until the time she lays her eggs?

Geese tend to like to court, so they can be courting quite a while before they start laying, maybe a month. maybe more, but mine don´t. Or sometimes they´ll lay within a week. Depends on the goose and the conditions, etc.
btw, a goose laying an egg isn´t dependent on a gander breeding with her.

Mine have laid eggs within 2 weeks of breeding.
