Well actually I think I already know about the split over black but does anyone know how the genetic colors end up if crossed with a Blue or a Splash hen??

Thanks

Lavender will NEVER show in a heterozygous state; it is not a leaky gene. A bird can be lavender AND blue (Blbl lavlav) or lavender AND splash (BlBl lavlav). The phenotype is pretty much blue or splash--not much to tell that the lavender is present. There is a way to tell from the colouring of the shafts of the tail feathers, but the website that gave details on that disappeared at the end of December

So if I understand you correctly the black/split over blue or splash will result the same as a reg black over a blue or splash.

Is that correct?

Thanks

Actually, if it is lavlav, all the babies will carry lav. If you breed a Blbl lavlav to a blbl lavlav, all the babies will be lavender; however, those who also inherit a blue gene will show as blue.
