We have a trio of Welsummer X tolbunt Polish and we believe that at least one of the two pullets is laying big blue eggs.

Has anyone have any Polish that lay blue eggs?

I also noticed a light blue egg in another pen and think that it may be coming from a buff polish pullet. Or, LOL, one of my old wels hens has suddenly changed from terra cotta eggs to blue!

What type of comb do they have? More specifically, do they have a single comb or pea comb variant(crests frequently affects the comb appearence).

I used to have Polish mixes that laid blue eggs, however they had been crossed with my blue egg laying turkens.

Ha!!! Thanks, Kev. I went out and took a close look at them and it seems that 3 of them have pea combs and one might even be rumpless. I didnt feel like chasing her to feel and see whether she has a tailbone or has just had her tail plucked!
The forth wels x tolbunt has a very small single comb, red earlobes and no beard. She looks more welsummer than the others. None of them look polish, really. More like they were Ameraucana crossed with Welsummer.

Im getting more blue eggs than brown eggs from them, even though there are two Penedesenca hens in with them. So all the female crosses may be laying blue eggs, or at least the ones with the pea combs probably are.

How is the egg color working, though? The welsummers lay dark brown eggs, so even if the Tolbunt roo was from a blue egg layer, wouldnt the eggs at minimum be olive green due to the lack of dominance of either egg color???

Thanks, Chel
