How does tear gas affect chickens?

I'm worried about what might happen if tear gas drifts into my backyard, I've already tried Google but I couldn't find anything about how it affects chickens. Should I set up a temporary indoor habitat or is it something I don't need to worry about?

According to my googling, tear gas has apparently killed some wild birds. Chickens being birds, I would be concerned if you have reason to think it will be used nearby.

If it's pepper spray instead, using capsaicin from hot chili peppers, then it doesn't bother birds. Source for that: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capsaicin
