How effiecient can they be at foraging flying insects?

Last week I noticed that my 4 pekins when fom 8-12 cups of feed a day to 4-5 cups. Today I noticed them snatching flies and other flying insect out of the air. I am suprised that they are catching wnough to put off their appettite. Until I observed them snbatching flying insectgs I was wondering wehat the problem was but it stil seems they must be catching alot of insects to make up for that much feed!

You mean I may not have to mortgage my home in order to keep feeding them?

Yea, There feed consumption has gone way down. Observing my dominant female yesterday she was snatching flies out of the air like a pro. Now looking closely at their bills instead of what I thought was mud and other debris from dabling I now recognize how much insects they arte chowing on... Good gross ducks!
