I have a design where I have the food feeder inside the coop, I was wondering how high off the ground should the food hole be? I am getting west sussex chickens so that is the size of the chicken but I dont want my little chooks to be stretching for food?

Basically I have a letterbox hole in the coop and was wondering how high I should place it?

I think about chest height for the chickens but am not sure, any advice would be great. thanks

I hang mine inside about 5 inches off the ground so they don't run directly under nor kick sand/litter into it while scratching around.

I will be getting Sussex chickens, The feeder is basically a box on the outside wall with a hole in the wall itself. should I go for 6 inches from the floor???

That seems pretty low to me considering the size of a Sussex, but it will work.
You may just spend more time cleanng litter from it
