how high shoud my roost be

we r cleaning out our hen house and im wondering how high the roost should be off the ground

I think 18-24 inches off the ground with at least 12-18 inches between roosts if using ladder type and 10-12 inches wide for each bird using it.

I have four roost's in a corner. I had to put one at 2' because my rooster couldn't make it up to the one at 3'(he would crash&burn) another at 4' and the last one at 5'. most of the flock use them all to get to the top.they all sleep on the top one
