Hey everyone,
In Oregon we’ve been getting temperatures of 110+
My chickens are safe (free range, running sprinkler on coop roof, running a fan)… but the eggs are very warm to the touch even well after laying. I realize they come out hot, but how hot is too hot? And for how long? I try to collect all throughout the day, but today I didn’t get them until now.
Should I compost them or are they still safe for consumption?

Open the eggs in a separate bowl, one at a time. Then proceed to add the egg to your recipe or your pan. Cooking the egg destroys the bacteria. One really should be hesitant on eating them raw.

I would not set eggs, if I have a hen brooding, and it gets to 100 degrees - drastically decreases my hatch.
