So there is a guinea that has been hanging around my chickens this morning (they are free ranging and can go wherever they please during the day). I live out in the country, and my three neighbors near by dont have any chickens/guineas. Not sure where its from but i was hoping that i could catch it into the chicken coop. Right now it is in a tree

Why do you want to catch it?

I mean most folks want them to free range and eat ticks and such so if it's hanging around it's doing ya a big favor.

If ya really want to catch it set up a pen like a wire dog kennel and place some feed in it, wait til it goes in and shut the door, but be careful if you grab it with your hands they are very strong and can hurt ya if when they peck ,scratch and flap their wings.

Bad thing is if you pen it up after it's been free it will be misirable,i have ad one get traped in the peafowl pen and it beat itself up on the fence pacing back and forth.

Be patient, it will enter your chicken coop when it realizes the chickens go in to eat. And if you have special treats that they love if you make a point of giving it to them in there the Guinea will eventually end up in the coop.

The issue is then, now what? If you want it to live with your chickens then you'll have to keep everyone up for a few days. Make it a party by offering treats a couple of times a day. Toss in a head of lettuce, stuff like that. After a few days it should be acclimated enough to return to the coop with the chickens, especially if it thinks there's good things to be had.

i successfully lured the guinea into my chicken coop. i dont plan on keeping it in there, just feeding it in there for a couple days and see if it will stick around once i let it out and come back at night. if not, oh well.
