How is your garden growing.these are some of my plants.i started from seed in March.

Very Nice!!!! What variety of tomato?

My gardens are doing pretty good. I grow everything from heirloom seeds, too, and haven't purchased a veg plant in ages. In fact, I'm getting ready to start the seeds for the fall gardening season.

Tomatoes are doing good so far. Squash now have tiny squash and cucumbers are finally starting to grow well. I also have pole lima beans. First time I have attempted those. Here are my tomatoes...keeping fingers crossed that no diseases show up.

I like to try different tomato types. So to be honest I don't really know.my husband has a habit of pulling the white marker's from the pots when he planted them.he planted 110 of tomato plants.i grow them he plants them.

they are looking good.Do you start your seeds in a greenhouse.the only thing I have thought about planting for fall is pansy's.could use some ideas on planting for fall.we do plant turnips.but that's about it.

I like your planter @lularat

At least your hubby plants them.

Mine just builds the raised beds, and then says the rest is all up to me...all the sowing, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, cooking, preserving...
Oh, and he pays for everything (VERY important!), so I can't complain.

And I'm low tech....I just start my seeds under shop lights (on timers) on a shelving unit in the family room, and germinate them on heat pads. And as I'm in Zone 5, I start my fall seedlings now in order for them have enough time to mature before winter. My standbys are broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, and kale planted from the seedlings started in June, then in August direct sow lettuce, carrots, turnips, beets and spinach. And I use unheated hoop houses to extend the growing season. There are other things I occasionally plant for the fall harvest, but those I listed are pretty much a given each fall.

My attempt at starting from seed was a complete fail, sigh. Hubby bought me a nice little greenhouse from TSC.
I had a bunch of 72 cube mini greenhouse trays with plastic domes. Checked with a relative who has 30 yrs. in
professional landscaping for soil, etc. Bought all the kinds of neat packets of seeds I wanted to grow. veggies
to expensive to buy in the stores like all colors of sweet pepprs, etc.Not single sprout. I am so bummed.
The greenhouse is set in a prime spot on the back porch. So its June and I got nothing. I should have just
bought plants at the nursery, sigh.
Best,
Karen in western PA

Wow.maybe you planted them to deep.i have planted seeds in seed starter and soil.the seed starter works better.and you have to make sure you keep it moist.

Hi bucky52,

Honestly, I tried to follow all the directions. What I can't figure out is the 100% fail. Nothing came up. And they were good Burpee seeds
from this season. I'm just so disappointed. I've never been a good gardener. Last year we bought plants from the nursery and had such
a fine crop of sweet peppers. I processed them and we had fun cooking with them til mid Dec. when we finally ran out. So this year I
wanted even more plants for peppers to last the winter so I tried to start them from seed. Epic fail, sigh.
Best,
Karen

lay out a wet paper towel.springle your seeds on it fold it up.lay it in a bowl or what ever you have.and try and keep it moist.see if you get any sprouts.my Hubby did this for years, until I took over sowing our garden seeds.he did get good results.i was thinking your seeds may have been old.But I found seeds that were at least 3 or 4 years old and they came up fine.
