Three of my free range chickens definitely have eye worms, since I saw white and thin moving worms hiding under their third eyelid. One have a lot, and the other 2 have few, so I can't see them, when they are hiding under the third eyelid. I already ordered injectable ivermectin for the eye worm. One website states, that they can get it from eating surinam cockroaches, and it takes about 50 days after the eye worm eggs is ingested by the surinam, for the eye worm larvae to be capable of infecting the chicken. There are few surinam cockroaches in our backyard, but there are a lot of american cockroaches. Is it possible for them to get it by eating infected american cockroaches? Under normal conditions, how long can the eye worm protected inside an egg live in a soil, if I am living in Hawaii?
