How long can eggs be left out?

Wasn't sure where to put this one. I thought we lost a hen, in searching for her I found she has been nesting under our shed, and I was surprised to find a dozen eggs there. We thought we had a hen or two holding out on us. I guess not. SOOO the question is, how long are they good for? (yes this is our first set of backyard hens). I live in Vriginai and the temps have been anywhere from low 20s to low to mid 70s. Any advice?

You can put them in a bowl of water. If they sink they are good if they float they are not.

Also after putting them in water it washes off the bloom,so you will want to use them up first.
