Hi, I have been lent an incubator for 48 eggs but only have 14 hens at present. I just built a new coop to triple my flock. How long can I store eggs before I put them into the incubator. I would like to try to put all 48 eggs at once to maximize my hatch but am only getting like 8 - 10 eggs per day.

Also, any recommendations on how eggs should be stored pending incubation?

Thanks

For the best hatch rate you should not hold your eggs for more than 7-10 days. You put them pointy side down in an egg carton and turn them 1-2 times a day, more if you have the time.

Thanks Lucky1

Do I refrigerate the eggs prior to incubating or just keep them at room temperature?

NEVER put eggs you want to use for hatching in the fridge. The cold temperatures kill the embryo after just a couple of hours.. Set them at room temperature or 50-60 degrees (55 being optimal) :)
