Hi all... my hen was showing signs of illness a couple of days ago and i quickly quarantined her from the flock and she is in a roomy cage in the garage. They get grit naturally while picking around in the sand/dirt outside their coop so I've never had to give them grit. Since she is now not eating outside, how long before I need to add grit to her food? I will probably keep her quarantined for 2 or 3 more days.

Thank you!

Sylvia

That can vary because of the stone they are using for grit can vary in hardness. A soft stone like limestone can wear out quickly. A hard stone like granite can go much longer. For a long period of over a week put a container of grit or stoney/sandy dirt in with her. If you are feeding a confined bird already ground feed only, then grit is not needed.
