Ive been wondering this for a long time and cant find any answers but how long do Rouen ducks live for? Has anyone had Rouen ducks in the past and roughly how long did they live for??

I can only recall the rough estimate for ducks in general, which is ten or more years if they can be kept safe, and can get treated for infections. I met a blue swedish who was twelve.

The average age of ducks is around three to four years, if you include deaths from predators.

I see in wikipedia they average age is 12 years

In general larger breeds do not live as long as smaller ones. I think 4-7 would be a much more reasonable life span. I highly doubt many would make it to 12

I have a Rouen duck who is 13 now and will be 14 in April of 2014. She shows no signs of slowing down, although she is getting a little arthritic I think (she is having a tougher time climbing up the snow banks this winter). But from what I've read this is pretty unusual in a large breed domestic duck. I expected her to go a few years ago, and every winter I think 'this is it'. And every year she surprises us.

I agree that larger breeds tend not to live as long as smaller breeds, but you can expect at least 6-8 years if you protect them from predators and keep them healthy. However, it's not unusual to see some ducks live past 12 years with excellent care.
