How long do you keep silkies under heat lamp?

My silkies are 5 weeks old now. They are in my basement which is about 60 degrees. Can I turn the heat lamp off yet? Or how long do I need to keep it on yet.

Mine are two months old and out in the coop with the adults but they still enjoy sleeping under their heat lamp at night. It's still a bit chilly here.

Silkies like heat a little bit longer than other breeds from my experience when growing up. I like to give my silkies heat (when I had silkies, that is) until 2 months old (and if it is in the middle of winter, everyone gets a 100 watt bulb when it goes under freezing due to our wet climate).

If you are going to keep them in the constant 60 degree temperature, then they would only need a little heat, like maybe a 100 watt bulb or two to huddle under if it isn't too high, as they need 70-75 degrees at that age.
