How long does a rooster mate with a hen?

I'm new to chickens and just wondering how long they "do it" for. Our rooster will jump on a hen and not even 5 seconds later he's off of her. Is it that quick? And just like that she is bred? Sorry if this sounds dumb but I am just curious.

Yep it's pretty quick. When you see the roosters tail go down is when he's doing his "part" of the fertilization process. It's pretty much get up and on and do the deed and then get off.

Although I've seen some of my roos inseminate a hen multiple times on one mount.
