I will have to cull all of my guineas due to coryza, and will like to find hatching eggs in mid- September to replace what I have lost to coryza. My concern is that I will not be finding any that late, and will have to wait 'till next summer to get new guineas.

Sorry to hear about the coryza, that's a bummer.

I'm not quite sure when ours quit laying (ours make nests around the farm, constant Easter egg hunt

), but I think stop around September/October. Since your way up north I'm gonna guess it'll be earlier for you than it is for us.

You might want to check out Ideal Poultry's awesome special they have on Guineas right now: http://secuservices.com/ideal/newideal/selectproduct.aspx?qty=1&ID=ASKS&Product=1506

(I'm
in no way affiliated with them, BTW

I've had no experience with breeder Guineas, but I'm completely happy with my 2nd and 3rd generation Cackle Hatchery Guineas. I keep them for tick and bug control and they're doing great. They're even raising a family this year!

Personally, I'd be concerned about inbreeding with breeder Guineas.

(I crack up every time I think of what showing Guineas must be like. Everyone's probably having to yell at the top of their lungs!

Isnt there medication for Coryza?

Sort of, the birds will be carriers for life, and every time I get a new bird, or hatch some chicks, they will get the disease. I would rather start over, and disinfect every thing, then to keep my flock close, and not be able to sell the extra chicks and birds to help cover the feed cost. This hard for me to cull all of them, some are more then just livestock. I have a 9 year old chicken [Princess] that I had since she was a day old. My parents got her and 5 other chicks for me after our incubating trial failed, when I was 13 years old, and do not know how to cull her, plus some others.
