I have a breeding coop for a select few at this point most of the mature hens tend to roost in the mango tree but one currently likes my saw horse to roost on she tries to brood but I know her egg laying spot and prefer the success of my incubator over the risk of predators.I have 3 pens set up for 1month 2 month and 3 month olds along with 2 brooders 1 for day to week old the other with more space for 1 week to 1 month. I am adding another run and breeding pen this week. My stock is and Asil Sweater cross rooster, a claret rooster a Pure grey rooster and the last rooster is a lemon sweater but I discovered he has a crook tail and was advised not to use him for breeding.
I have a Red head Claret hen, 2 Mcrae's 1 Mel Sims black, 1 Gold dome and 2 Carolinas hens (the only ones with spurs in my stock) 6 immature pullets and a Pair of Kabirs with their own coop
My Kabir hen is the most reliable every 25 hour egg layer of the bunch followed by the Mel Sims Black and then the Mcrae's and Gold Dome. The Clare is a good Layer but she has a hidden nest. I have 30 chicks and more than 60 on the way. I also have a pair of Pekin Ducks and Muscovy's and a turkey with 2 wives lol. Getting a pair of Pure Grey's next month and am looking for a trio of pure Asil's and a white claret hen here in the philippines
