Once the chick starts hatching, how long does it take for it to fully hatch? Due date is today, and I just looked in the incubator and there's an egg with a lil piece missing. So I was just wondering. Thanks for any help!!

Wow ok, thanks for the info..I'm so excited!! I know I sounds like a goob but this is our first time hatching and we are having so much fun with it!! I love our chickens.

No problem. We all have questions no matter how many times we have hatched...

Peachlover-Really!?! Wow well I can't wait for them to get here.

Ms Fuzzybutts-thanks, I love your name. It makes me think of my hens. We have wyandottes. Love it!!

Sgtmom52 - thanks!! I'm hoping it doesn't take too long but who knows, they will show when they want too!!

Oh one more question for ya'll..which end are they suppose to hatch from? Or does it even matter?

They're supposed to hatch from the blunt end, where the air cell is located.

In my experience (which is limited!) all of my ducklings and chicks have pipped and then had a nap and made no progress for HOURS. Then, all of the sudden, they'll decided to zip and they'll be out in 15 minutes.

They normally will pip the large end of the egg, where the air cell is.
Then they can take their sweet time coming out.

Happy hatching!
