how long does the silver tarp last in the sun?

My blue tarp has fallen apart from sun exposure I have a silver camping tarp, mush heavier material. Is this stuff more UV strudy? this blue tarp only lasted 6 months.

i live in an area with extremely strong sun, too. have literally gotten sunburn in the winter before. if you find a good answer to this, you'll make a million bucks from consumers in the southwest.

I had a silver tarp with the brown on the back side. I paid pretty good for it and it lasted all of 8 months! Not sure if it's the one your talking about. I was thinking of just buying the sun shade material for the frame the horses stand under next time.

Plain ole tarps do disintegrate quickly. "Silver" could just be a different color of plain ole tarp, in which case don't expect much better from it.

OTOH, the serious agricultural tarp material that feed stores etc sell for farmers to cover hay stored outdoors, and *some* of the silver plastic sold to cover hoophouse greenhouse structures, can last several years or more. It is however a lot more expensive than the lil' blue jobbies.
