we had a hawk get one of our hens in the chicken yard two weeks ago.

the next day, we left for vacation, and the flock has been confined in their completely predator proof coop and run since then.

is two weeks a long enough lockdown?

Hello! Have you seen hawks in your trees? Do you have shrubs for the hens to hide in if it comes back?
i’ve seen them in the area, but not in our trees since we’ve been home.

and yes, their yard is full of shrubs, rocks, and tangles of fallen branches

Are you in an area where the hawks are migrating through or are they permanent residents? Two weeks is plenty if they are migrating. You are likely to see them again if they are year round residents.

they’re year round here. we’ve seen them circling, and the birds have used their “free range” pen for a year now without incident.

I think they should be ok. We have hawks here too, one failed attack last year. My neighbor that raises meat birds lost one to a hawk, but with all the hawks we have that is minimal losses. We've lost more to foxes then anything.
