one egg piped this am...over 12 hours now and only a very small zip..about 1/2". I can hear the chick, see it trying to saw its way out...Is it still ok?

Yes, they rest between efforts when hatching.
Anything from a couple of hours to well over a day. My ducks took over 36 hours...
