How long is an egg good?

I'm new to this, so new that I'm getting my first chicks the end of this week! I know it will be a while before I get any eggs but my wife is asking how long an egg is good for once you get it from the nest and put it in the frig?

A Long time. I have used eggs that I kept in the fridge for 3 months, they tasted fine. I had asked myself the same question and decided on a 3 month test. I did not wash the eggs until I was ready to use them, this leaves the bloom (a natural protective film) intact and extends their shelf life.

An unwashed, unrefridgerated egg will be good for up to a month. If you put it in the fridge in an airtight container, the egg will be good for six or seven months.
