How long on sugar water and electrolytes

How long should I keep my new peeps on sugar water and electrolytes they are only 4 day old buff-o's. thanks jean

Why are they on sugar and electrolytes? I only give chicks fresh clean water. No additives are necessary if they are healthy chicks.

I would take them off right now...before the sugar starts causing diarrhea.

Generally, chicks don't need sugar and electrolytes if they are healthy.

I agree with hinkjc and gator. Healthy chicks don't need it.

I give my chicks vitamin and electrolytes in their water for the first week or two. Every other 2 days.

I usually only do that if im hatching bantams or getting shipped chicks.

I did three days of electrolytes for the shipped chicks. Then just water. Wouldn't think a healthy unstressed chick would need anything.

I give my chicks suger and/or electrolytes the first day I get them. If they are healthy they get regular water on day 2 but if they are a bit on the bad looking side I give them it for 3 more days.

My chicks were shipped. They were stressed. and cold. One died that pm but the others were doing well until today. I have one pooing bloody mucous. by advice I have switched to sulmet and plain water. They are really active little buffo's and very curious. they will cock their little heads side ways and just stare at me so funny. I have never had chicks before and this is definitely a new trip for me. lol! I saw the suggestion of sugar and water plus electrolytes on here . Trying so hard to be a good mom. Jean

I would do the same with shipped chicks, crazyhen. We all try so hard to be good chicken mama's, don't we?? Good luck!!

Hatchery instructions say do sugar water for 1 hour only and then feed.
