How long should I continue to have hope

This is day #22 with fertile eggs under my broody silkie. Should I leave them go a bit longer or accept defeat? Thanks.

Leave it a couple more days as sometimes they hatch a little later than expected

have you candled them lately to notice any change the past day or so??

I have not candled and am afraid to do it at this point. I guess as long as they are willing to sit another day or so, so am I

Well I'm glad I waited....1 little wellsummer chick hatched on day #24!! Her silkie "mother" can now rest easy and maybe think about getting off that nest for a while. Thanks for the well wishes

Are there any sign of more hatching. It could just be they are delayed because she got off the nest and let the temperature down as sometimes that can delay a few days. Don;t give up more could come. I had chicks hatch day 27 and 28 but I wouldn;t keep them anylonger than day 30 as they will explode when bad!

It's good to be patient with eggs--sometimes they do take longer than expected! I usually only give up after day 25-26, and even then I open up the eggs very carefully just in case.
