How long should I let my chicken free range for.

Depends very much on what the free-ranging benefits are. If nutrition is valued, then the more the better but you can get a lot of benefit by allowing them a few hours at end of day can make a difference. Benefits of exercise can likely be realized with a couple hours or less. If you have silkies or something like them, then predation risks may outweigh free-range benefits.

As long as they are not in any danger from predators or such, they should be allowed to free range the whole day.
