Hi,
We finished the coop last Saturday and have kept the chickens in there full time (except for a few hours on Sunday!). They are 6 weeks. It is now Wednesday night and they are going crazy and I miss hanging out with them in their run. How long is it necessary to keep them locked in? We don't want to have to chase them in every night.

Thanks!

Tammy

! Pleased you joined our flock! They should be used it by now - not sure why they aren't. What do you mean "going crazy?" How do they behave when they are in the coop?

Oh good! Thank you! I will let them out tomorrow morning! It just seems like whenever they see me they run to the door and want to get out! I'm sure they're just sick of being locked up all day. My husband had read that they should be kept in there for up to 2 weeks! That seemed way too long so I had to ask the experts on BYC!

Thanks again!

Tammy

Hi
welcome-byc.gif
I keep mine up for only 2 or 3 days, now the first night I make sure I'm around and spend time out with them to make sure everyone remembers where home is...and go to bed lol

Welcome to BYC
We usually let our chickens out in the morning and put them away at night so the fox does not get them but they still get a bit of free range
So I don't see why you can't do the same
