Just got the new flock on Monday and want to keep them in the coop for awhile to spoil them with food, teach them that I am nice, and teach them where they should lay/roost.

How many days do you think would be sufficient to keep them in the coop before turning them into marauding free-rangers?

I was thinking a week, but after seeing what 2 days of constant coop time has done to the grass etc inside the coop, I don't know if it could handle 7 days without having to be moved.

welcome to the land of dust and dirt. LoL
and a great learning place.
I kept mine in for 2 weeks and turned my roos loose. but one I lost the others came back at bedtime.
but Iwont take a chance with my ladies. running off
or come critter getting to them.
